This short documentary is concerned with the exhibition of the objects of the migrants – Porto M – that the local Askavusa Collective created in Lampedusa. The goal of this project is to deconstruct mainstream reproductions of what happens along the European external border and more precisely on the tiny Italian island. By challenging the most common views and imaginaries on border(s) and migrations, Francesca and Annalisa – the two interviewed members of the Askavusa collective – want to unveil to their sons and nephews the memories of the tragic events taking place on the island, to fight that nihilism that is spreading in our societies.
